Goals for 2010:
I’ve put together something of a wish list for 2010. I look back on last year and It was a great time, but it was an example of under planning. We had great memories inter-spaced by
Skate the Full Rideau Canal in Ottawa
- Trip’s Booked and we’re in O-Town February 19-22. Now we just need the weather to co-operate so we can skate the entire thing. Then it’s off for post-skate celebrations at byward market.
Move into the New House
- Jen’s things have been in Storage since January 16, we’re anxiously awaiting the new house. While it’s a little further away from Downtown, it’s perfect and finished exactly how we want. Zero compromise on this.
- Targeted start to moving is March 6, 2010. Completely in the new place by March 21, 2010.
Wedding Location Selection
- Getting engaged is done, that was simple enough. Picking a place to get married is turning out to be quite hard. We’re aiming the places we want to have the wedding. The list started off as ambitious with San Francisco, Calgary, Banff, Toronto, and St. John’s. However, being control freaks and wanting a wedding with no compromises or unpleasant surprises we’ve decided to stick close to “home”. We’re down to two, Calgary and Banff. We’ll narrow it down before April 1st and mail out invites before June 1st, 2010.
Vancouver Half-Marathon
- I really wanted to run this last year, but several things lined up to keep me from going.
- May 2, 2010: Targeting a 1:45:00 finish.
Calgary Full-Marathon
- My First Full Marathon. Should be exciting
- 42 km is a long time for something to happen. Still, I’m targeting an aggressive 3:40:00 finish
A Second Dog (furry child)
- We tragically lost Ella, a beautifully little Yorkie in what really was terribly bad luck. We’ve toyed with the name mulligan, but have settled on Stella. Stella is due to arrive in May 2010. She’ll be prompty put on health insurance and never left unsupervised until she’s big and hardy.
- Stella will be a pure-bred Yorkie
Hike the Middle Sister (again)
- Last time I did this, it was with 2 other friends. Being ill-prepared (too little water, too much gear, no sunscreen) cost us tremendously and we struggled. We finished the hike in 9 hours. I’d like to do it in 4 or less.
Hike Mount Rundle
- Complete before the end of July, 2010. Need to find someone equally unafraid of heights.
Yellow Stone, Fernie Camping Road Trip
-
2,289 km or about 1 day 4 hours of driving, the trip seems daunting. But with a tonne of parks, hikes, and places to see, it would be epic and low cost. 3 hours to low priced American gas is wonderous.
- To be Complete by August 1, 2010
Home renos to be complete by mid summer:
- Design completion of paving stone patio and walk to garage June 1, 2010
- Party Wall Fence installed – June 1, 2010
- Yard Gated off – June 10, 2010
- Construction complete June 30, 2010
Run the Royal Victoria Full Marathon
- I’ll make my 2011 Boston qualifying attempt here. We’ll see how it goes, my age group dictates that I need to run a race of 3:10:59 or faster. That’s a bit short for 42.2 km as far as I think.
Run Winterstart
- I’ve always procrastinated on this sign up and I’ve always missed out. This year is the year. I’ll sign up on the first day of sign ups!
Trip to Vegas & Grand Canyon
- Have never been to Vegas, I figure it’s time. Might as well rent a hummer and spin over to the Grand Canyon while I’m there. Live the american dream
